Tornado?!

So apparently I'm not allowed to have a dull, boring day this week. I'm starting to miss those I think.. Anyway, I'm driving in my half-alseep state like usual to work at 6:50 in the morning, preparing to get my chocolate chip bagel, and I get ready to turn down the side street I use to cut to Rt 33, and there's this line of traffic streaming off of 33 onto Nottingham Way, and a cop at the other end! So I'm like, ok, let's go down the next one then.. so I turn down it, get to Rt 33, and there's a cop sitting there too! So now I'm wonderin what's going on.. the guy in the truck in front of me gets out and goes to talk to the cop., meanwhile I'm slowly inching my way up to the road to get a reaction out of the cop about what I should do. So he turns his lil cop car light on me, and the guy talkin to him translates: Him: "Where are you going?" Me: "I'm just trying to get to Staples to work" Him: "Yea, I recognize you. Just be careful, there's transformers and power lines down" Me; "Ok, thanks" I get to Staples, and it's me, Matt, and Kendall. I learn that they saw two transformers blow as they were getting there at 6:30 (one at the light at Westin, one down past Staples), and that the cops had blocked off Rt 33 - no traffic in or out, at least for two hours apparently. (I got bored, so I took a Canon A70 digital camera and took some pics):
Two of the other employees, Jane & Tom, couldn't get past the roadblock to work. Somehow George and Randy, off the clock, not working (came to pick up school stuff they left last night) managed to get past the cops, the same way I did; same place too. So another of our employees, this older woman named Ginny, called and said she couldnt get in and she was parked on Westin at the moment (now infamous for the street I cut off the cop on turning onto 33). We told her to do what me, George, and Randy had done. After we hung up Matt and I went outside and we're lookin towards the left waiting for Ginny. All of a sudden we hear sirens going off and a cop comes flying down to Jiffy Lube. I'm like "haha, I bet he got Ginny". And sure enough, the cop made Ginny TURN AROUND AND GO BACK when she was not 25 feet from the Staples parking lot! That was THE funniest moment of the day, bar none. So now it's 8, and we're missing employees (for obvious reasons), thank god there were no customers either. Finally PSE&G pulls up and starts working on the poles:
After nothing really eventful happening for a half hour, around 8:30 two employees show up - walking from over by Stewart's. They had to park on the side street and walk. Ok, its too dangerous to drive over down power lines, but you can walk? (Oh, btw, we had power during this whole thing - I believe Staples is powered to the neighborhood behind it, not to everything on Rt 33). A cop decided to drive down Rt 33 at one point, and I guess Jane & Tom made a mad dash for it, because they managed to make it in - fuming at how horrible Hamilton police are :) At 8:45 or so, this car comes in from the right by Stewart's and parks in front of Big Lots. I turn around again and I see this cop RUNNING, ON FOOT, from Stewart's, over to the car.
Whatever the cop said, I assume it was "go back from whence you came, YOU SHALL NOT PASS!", because the car left immediately back towards Stewart's, and the cop walked back too.
At 9 two more of our employees showed up, having to circle back onto Estates Blvd over onto Shady Lane and park by Hess, and walking in. They were kinda peeved too. At that time I went out and saw that they set up a real roadblock (guess the cop got tired of sitting).
During this whole time cops kept drivin back and forth, workers were hikin back and forth, and most importantly of all, AT LEAST FIFTY CARS WENT IN AND OUT OF HALDEMAN FORD. Guess you know who supplies the Hamilton police eh?
Anyway, at about 9:30 they opened up traffic going Eastbound only, and within 3 minutes I swear to god at least 15 customers pulled up, it was disgusting. The road opened back up both ways around 10 or so. I proceeded to have my normal lovely work day at work from then on. Of course, word spread by midday that it was believed an F1 tornado touched down in front of Boston Market, tearing up the power lines there, and causing transformers to blow out down to McDonald's. I went home on lunch and sure enough, the road was partially blocked off while FIVE PSE&G trucks repaired a huge mass of downed wires and a cracked pole. Not to mention that a few more poles are leaning pretty badly now and need to be fixed. I drove past again around 7:30 tonight, and Boston Market STILL had no power, and they were STILL out there fixing it, putting a new pole in, and fixing the wires. Geeze! So we had a tornado touch down on Rt 33. Feel special yet? lol
