I have to run off to class but I wanted to post two things I thought were pretty good reads; I'll update later with more rambles. First off is this (
read it here):
A comment last year by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on the hunt for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction was awarded the "Foot in Mouth" prize Monday by Britain's Plain English Campaign. Rumsfeld, renowned for his uncompromising tough talking, received the prize for the most baffling comment by a public figure. "Reports that say something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know," Rumsfeld told a news briefing. "We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."
Also, here's a
scoop on the Return of the King premiere in New Zealand:
Like a victorious general at the front of his army, home-grown director Peter Jackson led stars from "The Return of the King" for five km (3 miles) through central Wellington on Monday, flanked by characters clad in armor and on black horses. Amid drifts of ticker tape thrown by fans, Jackson and cast members were besieged by crowds 10 deep as they made their way up the 470 meter-long (510 yards) red carpet to the theater.
Gotta love it :) I'll update later, off to my Linux class! Yay, back from that awful class! Luckily next week we learn about AS/400, and the following week is the final, because I can't take much more of it - we're not really learning linux, blah. So work today was alright, there's a lot to get done and I definitely did not have time to finish it all today. Luckily it allowed me to stay an extra hour and take a shorter lunch, and I'm sure I can do that again this week. That let's me have even more time on Saturday :) Yay :) And speaking of that.. things are going well still, and I'm happy. Still no explanation, you'll get one eventually guys, for better or for worse. Let's hope it's for the better :) And ya, after class my night encompassed chats again, hehe. So I'm finding even more fun articles for you guys to read. Here's
another:
Wellington, New Zealand - A recently leaked trailer for The Return of the King has Tolkien fans outraged over the apparent addition of a new character - Jar-Jaromir. The scene depicted in the trailer shows Jar-Jaromir shouting, "Gondora gonna fallsa"; he then trips over a corpse and knocks down a couple of Uruk-hai. Producers of The Lord of the Rings trilogy confirmed the addition of the half-brother of Boromir and Faramir.
And not to be outdone, here's a
news article that sums up all the other news articles today aobut New Line and Peter Jackson really wanting to make The Hobbit!! (it also talks about them wanting to build a LotR museum in New Zealand but blah)
New Line, which spent $US300million ($415 million) making the films, is already planning to continue its Rings success with an adaptation of Tolkien's novel The Hobbit. More difficulties with the Tolkien estate were looming, said Jackson, who added that he would be keen to get involved after he finishes remaking King Kong in 2006. "New Line haven't actually talked to me about The Hobbit. I know there's difficulty about the rights, certainly if they want to talk to me about it I'd be keen," he said.
Well that's all. Off to bed :)
"No one knows it's here, do they? Do they, Gandalf?" - Frodo Baggins,
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
